Are tiny scratches on a new Ocarina normal?

I received my 12 hole plastic ocarina recently and after playing it a few days, I noticed there were tiny scratch marks all around. At first I thought they were decorative designs, since one looked like a T but they all seemed to be tiny scratches originating from the holes.

They look small enough to not affect playing it, but I was just wondering if this was normal in the making of these ocarinas.

Thanks for your question. Those are not scratches, but extraction lines from the plastic injection molding process. Due to the requirement of the Ocarina to be hollow, this is a necessary effect. Think of it like a birth mark! I hope satisfies your curiosity about the small lines, and I hope it doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the Ocarina.
